Speaking Engagement at Go Art

I was invited to come and speak at GO ART this week as part of their salon series. I have done a lot of speaking but never as part of a salon so when they told me they wanted me to “tell my story” and then talk about my book I thought “WOW, that’s easy enough”. But then, as the day ticked by I started getting nervous. Maybe I should have prepared something? But what? Notes about MY life and MY book-nah…just wing it!

I had no idea what to expect from the evening but it ended up being really fun. They served a delicious dinner, some wine and then everyone moved into another room to hear me speak. The crowd was so engaging, inquisitive and there was a wide range of ages. We even had quite a few laughs. And to my amazement I sold out of all the books I brought. What a great night!

Certificate of Recognition

So on Monday a really cool thing happened to me. I was presented with a “Certificate of Recognition” by my town board. They presented this to me for publishing my book and “shining a positive light on our community”-how awesome is that?! I am really excited and honored by this. I was invited to the monthly town board meeting and they presented me with a beautiful certificate and some really nice comments. I actually grew up in this town and moved back a few years ago to raise my children near their family-so this acknowledgement means a lot.
Monday was quite the day for me because before this meeting, my volleyball team was presented with a trophy and certificate for being the 2008 champions! I love my team so I thought I would share their gorgeous faces with you:

And then at 3pm I have an interview with Bride’s Magazine! The topic is “how to merge and purge” when couples get married and combine their lives. The article will appear in their May/June issue. This is exciting because this is my first magazine article in a “BIG” magazine. I will let you know how it goes!

Crazy Weather Up Here

The weather up here in Western New York has been crazy! Last week we got about 2 feet of snow and now this morning I wake up and it is 60 degrees! Within two hours the temperature dropped about 15 degrees and now we are getting rain and a major wind storm. Oh well we need to take down the Christmas decorations anyway. Now they’ll just blow down!
