We often associate a ritual with religious or spiritual activity, but in the broadest definition, a ritual is simply a set pattern of activity. Making something into a ritual will inevitably place more importance on the activity. It will also help you be more conscious of what is happening, how it is happening, and how it affects you. Because of this, rituals can be a great aid in making changes in your life and forming a new beneficial habit. For example, if you want to lose weight, you could create a ritual for how you eat to ensure you eat slowly and take smaller portions. It takes at least twenty-eight days to establish a new habit. Make that time easier and more enjoyable by creating a ritual out of the activity.
